How we verify providers
Pet Farewell Finder is a directory, not a licensing body, and we do not inspect facilities. Here is exactly what we do check, what our listing statuses mean, and how to correct or report a listing.
How listings are built
Every provider record starts from publicly available information — a business's own website and publicly listed contact details. We record the source URL and the date a listing was added, and we write original summaries rather than copying descriptive text from provider websites.
What “Claimed” means
A Claimed listing means the business owner has verified ownership with us and can edit their own profile — correcting details, adding services, and keeping information current. Unclaimed listings are built from public information and have not yet been confirmed by the business itself.
What “Verified” means
A Verified badge means we've confirmed a claimed listing's ownership and core details directly with the provider. Every listing shows the date its information was last verified, so you can judge how current it is.
Keeping listings current
Businesses close, change hours, and change what they offer. We rely on provider updates, and on reports from site visitors, to catch listings that are out of date. If we confirm a business has closed, stopped offering a listed service, or that its contact information is wrong, we flag or remove the listing.
Preferred and featured listings
Some providers pay for a Preferred placement in a specific city or for an enhanced Professional profile. Paid placement is always labeled as Preferred or Sponsored and never determines whether a provider appears in our organic search results or how those results are ranked.
Report incorrect information
Found something wrong — a closed business, an incorrect phone number, a service that's no longer offered? Let us know from any provider page, or contact us directly.
